Reading History Book Club

The Reading History book club will be meeting Tuesday, November 12 at 5:30. The November book is "The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History," by Robert M. Edsel. The book tells the story of the special force of American and British museum directors, curators, art historians, allied soldiers, and others, called the Monuments Men, who risked their lives during WWII protecting the cultural treasures of Europe. The Reading History Book Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30 - 7 pm for a book discussion. Other book selections can be found on our Book Club page.

The Interurban Era
Temporary Exhibit

This temporary exhibit, which opened last month, explores the interurban railways and streetcars that shuttled passengers between towns in the first half of the 20th century. From 1904 to 1925, trolleys carried passengers around Temple and to Belton for a few cents. The exhibit features photos from the LeRoy O. King, Jr. Collection. Mr. King, along with his father, photographed and documented electric railways across the country and acquired well over 100,000 images of virtually every interurban that existed in North America.
