In case anyone is interested, Sam’s funeral service will be held at 1pm Sunday afternoon at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home at 14501 N. IH-35. It is southeast of the I-35/Wells Branch Parkway intersection. When I was talking to Joyce, his wife, she told me something that you will appreciate. She said at the moment of his passing, a short distance away, a train horn sounded…like it was calling him home. You may or may not know that he had a massive heart attack and multiple by-pass surgery around 15 years ago and since then has had health troubles. There were days when it was all he could do to get up and get to work. Then he would have to sit down and rest because he was winded, but he loved being around trains and working with our customers. His wife, Joyce, and several of his kids told me multiple times that the job was keeping him alive because it allowed him to get up and do something he loved. Sam passed away last night at 12:05am. I believe he was 82. I don’t have any details about funeral services, but will pass them along when I know something more. Feel free to pass this along to anyone else you know who might have been impacted by this kind and generous man. Take care. Craig Berry Texas Train Supply m: (512) 657-3128 www.texastrainsupply.com |
