The Railroad and Heritage Museum will host Santa at the Depot on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Santa and his elves will ride in on a diesel locomotive sponsored by BNSF Railway Company where he will be greeted by children from Temple and surrounding communities.  After embarking from “his” locomotive, children can visit Santa in the Gazebo and families will have time to take photos with Santa Claus for a nominal donation.  Make sure to bring your camera for this memorable occasion.

This year’s event is planned to be more exciting than ever.  With the addition of the Christmas Village sponsored by the City of Temple located in the Santa Fe Garden and Fred Springer Park , children and their families can walk into Christmas.  As you walk through the park, you will find opportunities to stop and listen to music, create craft projects, enjoy a cup of cocoa, eat homemade cookies and munch on peppermint candy canes.  Groups that will be participating with us to create this special event and to kick off the Christmas season are: Lowes, Kid Biz and Sweet Adelines.

The Museum will introduce its new train engine created especially for the Barrel Train which will be available for $2.00 per children and Hand Cars will be open for $2.00 per rider as well.

Admission to the Railroad and Heritage Museum is free to everyone in the community during this event and families are encouraged to visit the Christmas Village Model Train layout on display in the Temporary Exhibit Room on the second floor of the Museum.  This annual display is created by Dr. Dan Ladd.
