Re: Train Paint on Lionel 629 Diesel

Request for Info:
I recently acquired a beat up Lionel 627 Diesel.  Since I have to repaint it anyway, I think I'm going to redo that 627 Diesel into a 629.  Silver and Red.  Does anyone happen to know if the red strip running around the bottom of the shell continues to the underside edge or does it stop at the bottom of the sidewall?  I found lots of PICS, but no underside views.  Thanks.    Don

Sorry I did not see your message before I left for the show.  If you can provide a few measurements of it and maybe a picture, I can see if I have something like it.  How long is the shaft, what does the worm end look like, bearing pin on end?....    If I have something close, then we can compare the original with what I have.

Scott,
I know you are pretty busy preparing for tomorrow's rain show, but I have to ask you this.  I am refurbishing a Lionel 627 LV Diesel.  The armature seems to be damaged, but I don't know for sure if its still any good.  The part number in Greenberg Pg 29 is 600-125.  I will be at the train meet tomorrow, and I thought if you had an armature, I'd buy it from you.  At least, maybe you could check out the one I have to see if its good.  One way or the other, will see you tomorrow.  Thanks for any help.

Regards,
