Re: Circus Train loading
Penny and I took a drive over there after walking on the hike and bike trail this morning. Yes, go out East 7th. Go left on Springdale Road. Go right on Bolm Road just south of the tracks. Follow Bolm around until it crosses Airport Blvd. Go across Airport and turn left on Shady Lane. The major part of the train, around 40 cars is on the mainline is there. Just east of where the Airport Road overpass crosses the tracks.
We decided that the logistics involved in moving the complete Circus from far east Austin to the Erwin Center were interesting. Like how do they do that in city after city now that lots of downtown trackage has been pulled up. So, we drove of over to the Erwin Center where the Circus is playing and took a look at the trucks and wagons and stuff. Man, there's a HUGE amount of stuff out behind the Erwin Center. And it must be about 5 miles to the railhead.

The asst. trainmaster for the Circus train says they will set the ramps for loading the flats around 8 pm and will actually start loading the train around 9pm. This will take place along Tillery St. which is underneath the 7th street overpass.Hope ya'll can make it down there to watch.
